Solus’s Multi-Purpose Disinfectant is a hypochlorous acid (HOCl) disinfectant for authorized hard, non-porous surfaces. This page brings together its Canadian authorization information and the verified efficacy-test references below. Solus supplies the product in Canada only.
Canadian authorization and label concentration
Health Canada biocide market authorization no. 02557371. The current label concentration is 367 ppm free available chlorine. This is the label concentration, not a statement that every test lot was measured at exactly that concentration.
The authorized use areas are Food Premises, Hospital / Health Care Facilities, Domestic, and Institutional / Industrial. The current label determines the eligible surfaces, application method, contact time, precautions and rinse directions. Authorization for food premises concerns eligible surfaces, not direct application to food.
Efficacy testing: organism, method and contact time
The following verified test references identify work conducted by Analytical Lab Group under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Each row must be read as a complete organism–method–contact-time–report reference. Results are not a blanket claim for other organisms, surfaces or methods.
| Organism | ATCC strain | Test method | Contact time | Report |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Staphylococcus aureus | 6538 | AOAC Use Dilution Method | 10 min | A30442 |
| Salmonella enterica | 10708 | AOAC Use Dilution Method | 10 min | A30442 |
| Pseudomonas aeruginosa | 15442 | AOAC Use Dilution Method | 10 min | A30442 |
| Human Coronavirus 229E | VR-740 | Virucidal Efficacy on Inanimate Environmental Surfaces | 1 min | A30618 |
| Influenza A H1N1 | VR-1469 | Virucidal Efficacy on Inanimate Environmental Surfaces | 1 min | A31073 |
AOAC Use Dilution is a pass/fail carrier test. It is not reported here as a percentage reduction or a log-reduction value. The three bacterial entries above are the verified passed-test references for report A30442.
Use the current label, including rinse directions
Pre-clean surfaces before disinfection and keep the surface wet for the full contact time specified on the current label. After application, the label recommends rinsing with potable water on surfaces or objects that may come into direct contact with infants or toddlers, animals, food, feed or drinking water. Do not describe the product as universally no-rinse. Follow the label and safety data sheet for handling and precautions.

Frequently asked questions
What is the product’s Canadian authorization number?
The Multi-Purpose Disinfectant holds Health Canada biocide market authorization no. 02557371. Its four use areas are Food Premises, Hospital / Health Care Facilities, Domestic, and Institutional / Industrial. Follow the current label for the eligible surface, method, contact time and precautions.
What does 367 ppm refer to?
367 ppm is the current label concentration of free available chlorine. It should not be presented as the exact measured concentration of every laboratory test lot. Consult the current label and the complete laboratory report when documenting a particular test.
Which efficacy tests are summarized on this page?
The visible table pairs each organism and ATCC strain with its method, contact time and report. Report A30442 covers the three bacterial entries using AOAC Use Dilution at 10 minutes. Reports A30618 and A31073 cover the two listed viruses using the virucidal surface method at 1 minute.
Does AOAC Use Dilution provide a percentage reduction?
No. AOAC Use Dilution is a pass/fail carrier test. The results should not be converted into a percentage or log-reduction claim. Use the complete organism, strain, method, contact time and report reference instead.
When does the label recommend a potable-water rinse?
The label recommends a potable-water rinse after application on surfaces or objects that may directly contact infants or toddlers, animals, food, feed or drinking water. It is not a universal no-rinse product. Follow the current label and safety data sheet.
